Finding Nirvana

I was commissioned by the Editor of Cross Country Magazine to write a 2,000 word profile feature on a father and son. The father, Sanjay Rao, has a real-life rags-to-riches story in his search for the "perfect" life. A story mirrored by his son, Sunith.

Sanjay tried to follow a professional career path dictated by his parents, but longed for the outdoors. He made a lot of money playing the markets... and then lost it all. Then he was living in a tent on a piece of land he owned, with his wife and new-born child hours away. He would walk to the public phone each day to talk with them.

This land would become home to his paragliding school and his son, Sunith, would follow a similar journey: traditional career, longing for the outdoors, deciding to work with his father.

The story was published in print and online for Cross Country Magazine.
